| A consultation to discuss your bookbinding project is available by appointment; there is no fee for a basic consultation. The current price schedule is available to download in pdf format.
The bookbinding studio is located at One Cottage Street, Box 50, Studio 3-17, Easthampton, MA 01027. Google Maps provides an accurate rendering of the whereabouts of the building. If you are inclined to visit, please ensure that the day is sunny, the breeze is gentle, relative humidity is low, that you bring baked goods and a fresh thermos of coffee (or a bottle of Veuve Clicquot), and telephone or email first. We can't emphasize this last bit enough -- champagne without an appointment is still a cardinal sin. |

Stephanie Gibbs is a bookbinder in the Pioneer Valley of Massachusetts. When not reading books, repairing books, binding books, or altering books, she can be found drinking gin and tonics and watching the clouds. From her studio in Easthampton, MA, she offers bookbinding, conservation and repair for both contemporary and historic books, manuscripts, and documents to clients throughout New England. These services include individual and edition bookbindings in leather and cloth; clamshell boxes and protective enclosures; and preservation planning for collectors and institutions. Items for book conservation can range from scrapbooks and photo albums to Bibles, leather bound volumes, collections of letters, and any other bookish material. She received the Masters of Arts Degree in Conservation Studies from West Dean College, in Chichester, England. During this time Stephanie participated in internships at the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art and the National Library of Scotland. Her final project was on conservation of early twentieth century artist's books, following research into book publishing and production in post-Industrial society. While involved in these academic studies concerning book conservation and collecting, Stephanie also pursued an active interest in the modern fields of design bookbinding and the production of artist’s books, to which end she has studied privately with bookbinders in the United States and Great Britain. |
